Golden Agers
The June 10 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers opened with a Flag Day prayer by Shirley Pavlick.
The history of the American flag was read and Ruth Anne Feane led the group singing patriotic songs paying tribute to all the military branches.
The hospitality committee for July and August are Sue Dopira and Fran Hager. The next meeting will be Monday, June 24 at 1 p.m. at St. John's Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall.
Sign-ups for the upcoming picnic, to be held Aug. 12 at the # 9 Picnic Grove, will be held at this meeting.
Nesquehoning
Conservation Club
The Nesquehoning Conservation Club is planning to have a special meeting on Sunday, June 23, at Sonny's pond at the Hauto estates at 2 p.m.
Crime Watch
The Nesquehoning Crime Watch will meet on Thursday, June 20 at 7 p.m. in the borough building.
Trooper Shannon Yorke of the Hazleton State Police will be the guest speaker. New members are always welcome.
Summit Hill
Food pantry
The Summit Hill Food Pantry will be open Tuesday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. The food pantry is located in the Summit Hill Heritage Center on Hazard and Chestnut streets. There is to be no parking in the alley before 9:45 a.m. and absolutely no parking in the vacant lot. Recipients are reminded to bring along extra strong shopping/tote bags.
