Area couple celebrates golden anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford W. Shaffer Jr. recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Oct. 6, 1962 by the late Rev. Harold Engle in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lehighton.

Mrs. Shaffer is the former Corine Ockenhouse, daughter of the late Kenneth and Carrie Ockenhouse. Her husband is the son of the late Clifford and Pearl Shaffer.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Shaffer was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Company, Bethlehem. Mrs. Shaffer was employed by Maria Rose Company of Palmerton.

The couple have two children: a son, Forrest, and his wife, Karen; and a daughter, Heather, wife of Michael Kincaid, all of the Lehighton area.

They have a granddaughter, Morgan Shaffer.

The Shaffers recently celebrated this special occasion at a party with family and friends, hosted by their children.
