NORTHERN LEHIGH SCHOOL BOARD

Northern Lehigh School Board approved the following last week:

• The memorandum of understanding of the Northern Lehigh Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement that stipulates the inclusion of prep period time for part-time members.

• Authorized administration to enter into a three-year agreement with Blackboard Inc. for website hosting and Blackboard Mass Notifications.

• The initial club/activity application for the Middle School Foreign Language Club, which will provide students an opportunity to learn about various languages in an exploratory manner. Students will learn and be exposed to foundational skills like greetings, basic communication and cultures. The club will meet every two weeks on Tuesdays.

• Permission for the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor to use the high school gym and district’s parking lot facilities on Nov. 3 for the Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Half Marathon Run and Walk. Participants will begin arriving by 5:30 a.m., and the event will conclude around 4 p.m.

• Permission for the Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority to use the middle school parking lot facilities on Dec. 8 for their bus trip to New York City. Participants will begin arriving by 7 a.m., and the event will conclude around 8 p.m.

• Permission to Assistant Superintendent Tania Stoker to attend the Education Law Day 2019 conference Sept. 25 at University Park, with the cost of registration $99, and travel, $187, for a total cost of about $286, to be funded through her assistant superintendent’s professional development budget.

• Permission to Joseph Tout to attend the University of Pittsburgh: College in High School Conference Oct. 2 in Pittsburgh, with the cost of lodging $144, and travel, $160, for a total cost of about $303, to be funded from the high school professional development budget.

• The designation of Frank Gnas, school police officer; James Schnyderite, Peters Elementary School interim principal; Scott Pyne, Slatington Elementary School principal; Jill Chamberlain, middle school principal; Robert Vlasaty, high school principal; and David Hauser, secondary assistant principal, to sign summary offense notices for district students for the 2019-20 school year, after consultation with the superintendent.

• Art Levinowtiz, president elect; David Hein, vice president; and Kathy Swope and Mark Miller, insurance trust trustee (3-year term), as Pennsylvania School Board Association officers, effective Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2020.

• Rhonda Frantz as primary voting delegate for the Act 32 Tax Collection Committee for the Borough of Walnutport.
