Northern Lehigh School Board

Northern Lehigh School Board approved the following matters this week:

• Agreed to allow Drum Corps International to utilize the high school, fields, field house and stadium complex on July 30-31, and departing the afternoon of Aug. 1, for practice and the preparation of the world champion Santa Clara Vanguard for their competition in Allentown the evening of Aug. 1. Their rehearsal in Bulldog Stadium will be open to the local community at no cost to spectators.

• Northern Lehigh Middle School Principal Jill Chamberlain to attend the PDE 2020 Data Summit March 16-17 at the Hershey Lodge, Hershey, with the cost of registration $375, and travel, $83, for a total cost of about $458 to be funded through the assistant superintendent professional development budget.

• The request of a parent of a senior student at the high school who is moving out of the district, to allow their student to finish the 2019-20 school year in the Northern Lehigh School District.

• The request of a parent of a second-grade student at Peters Elementary who is moving out of the district, to allow their student to finish the 2019-20 school year in Northern Lehigh School District Bulldog Academy.

• Approved an expulsion hearing waiver for a student. The student and guardian have agreed to waive their right to a formal expulsion hearing in front of the school board, and have also agreed to disciplinary action outlined in the waiver.

• Announced that the next school board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. April 14.
