NOVA head gives update to Washington supervisors
Kristie Wilks, executive director for Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services, updated Washington Township supervisors on personnel changes and upcoming events at the Feb. 6 meeting of the supervisors.
David Tretter is the new assistant chief. Dr. Jonathon Trager and Dr. Aaron Ratner are volunteer co-medical directors. Both are emergency doctors for St. Luke’s.
NOVA handled 3,667 calls in 2017. Five hundred were in Washington Township. Ninety-five percent of the calls in Washington were handled by NOVA, with the remainder being answered by mutual aid units.

Sherry Graver, emergency management coordinator, said a hazard mitigation plan is being developed with the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission.
The plan will be on the website. “Part of our job is to be sure residents know about hazard mitigation,” Graver said.
Act 172, which provides tax rebates for volunteer first responders was discussed. The rebate which may help with recruitment and retention, depending on the number of calls responded to by a volunteer. The chiefs must keep records of responders.
Solicitor John Ashley said the rebates can only go to responders within a municipality. If someone from outside the municipality responds with units inside a municipality, the person will not be eligible for the rebate.
The ordinance will be advertised.
Junkyard licenses were renewed for Mark Yeanish, 6855 Old Grange Road; Jack and Kyle Follweiler, 6932 Jay St.; Anthony Hanna, 4163 Best Station Road; and Clay Sauerwine, 3148 Spring Valley Road.
An $850 donation was released to the Slatedale Athletic Association.
Delinquent taxes were turned over for collection to Creditech, street lighting and fire hydrant; Berkheimer, per capita; and Northeast Revenue, real estate.
An ordinance on holding tanks and providing for certain security is being advertised.
At a special meeting on Jan. 15, Aaron Oswald and Scott Green were appointed as alternates to the zoning hearing board.
