Officials identify woman killed near polling place

An 83-year-old Northampton County woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle outside of a polling place near Easton.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s office identified the victim as 83-year-old Marlene Raub of Northampton County.

According to a news release, Raub’s death is still under investigation, but was ruled an accident.

She died from blunt force injuries to the head as a result of being struck by a minivan. The incident occurred at 10:45 a.m. outside the Forks Township Municipal Building, a local polling place.

The driver of the minivan stopped at the scene, and was released by police after being questioned. Dozens of voters continued to walk in and out of the polling place as police investigated outside.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s office declined any further comment. Forks Township Police are investigating the incident.
