Gasoline was selling for 43 cents a gallon when this Texaco Fire-Chief pump, right, was last used. Originally produced in the 1940s, the pump automatically calculated the amount of gas and the price, eliminating the need for price charts once used by service station attendants. The restored novelty is owned by hobbyists Rick and Bonnie Jones and is on display at the couple’s garage, above, a salute to the traditional American service station, located on Springhouse Road in Mahoning Township.
