One of 2 killed in Franklin fire identified
The identity of one of two fire victims who died in Sunday night’s blaze in Franklin Township was released Monday morning.
Robert Fritzinger, 50, died Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was pronounced dead at 4:06 a.m.
Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim through a news release attributed the cause of death to injuries sustained in the apartment fire. Grim ruled the manner of death accidental.
Contacted this morning, Carbon County Coroner Robert Miller said he could not release the name of the other victim who died.
Miller said that victim — a 75-year-old man — died from asphyxia due to smoke inhalation.
“We know who it is, but we didn’t get ahold of next of kin yet,” Miller said. “He has nobody. We know who it is; we’re still working on it.”
Seven people were also displaced in the fire. The Red Cross is assisting those people.
The fire broke out at 75 Main Road in Franklin Township just before 5:22 p.m. Sunday.
Multiple fire companies responded to the apartment building at 69-75 Main Road where the blaze broke out.
There was a report of entrapment, with two people pulled from the blaze.
A state fire marshal was on scene Monday morning to investigate.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and the Franklin Township Police Department are conducting the investigation.
