Outstanding warrant leads to more charges
A Chester man picked up in Tamaqua on an outstanding arrest warrant on Nov. 2 faces additional charges after officers found him to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Other incidents include:
• Nicholas James Tipton, 39, was found in a home in the 100 block of Pitt Street, thanks to a tip. A search of Tipton’s belongings found syringes, glass pipes, empty wax paper bags, rubber bands and $69 in cash.
He was lodged in the SCI Mahanoy facility to answer to the warrant.
• Steven P. Campbell, 49, of Rowe Street, Tamaqua, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on Nov. 3. Officers found several bags of suspected heroin, a syringe and a metal spoon in Campbell’s possession.
• Charles Strouse, 27, of Pitt Street, Tamaqua, faces charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a controlled substance in connection to a Nov. 2 incident.
An officer was speaking with Strouse concerning a wanted person and noted he appeared to be under the influence of a drug or alcohol. Strouse gave the officer a pocket knife he had in his possession as well as a pill bottle containing several different kinds of drugs.
