Palmerton’s Sabo headed to King’s
Palmerton’s Andrew Sabo will continue his academic and athletic career at King’s College, where he will play football.
A team captain in 2019, Sabo spent four seasons as a member of the Blue Bombers’ varsity team, playing running back, linebacker and defensive end.
On defense, Sabo had 83 total tackles (46 solo, 37 assists) and seven tackles for loss, along with one quarterback hurry. He also had two fumble recoveries, and one fumble recovery for a TD.
Offensively, Sabo had 125 carries for 679 yards (5.4 yards-per-carry) with 13 rushing touchdowns. He went over 100 yards twice. Sabo also added 20 receptions for 189 yards, and finished with 1,142 all-purpose yards, including 274 in kick returns, with return for a score.
He tallied 92 points on the season.
Sabo was co-offensive and co- defensive MVP for Palmerton this past season. He was also named Times News Linebacker of the Year, and was a TN All-Star at running back. Sabo was also an Honorable Mention pick for the Lehigh Valley Live Team, and an Honorable Mention selection by the Morning Call at LB/RB.
In addition to football, Sabo is also a member of the track and field team, and is involved in National Honor Society, Avenger, Environmental Club, Aevidum and FBLA.
The son of Dave and Janet Sabo, Andrew will study Athletic Training at King’s.
