James Kindrew can say he has been perfect eight times in his life.

That’s because the Palmerton man has eight “300” bowling games under his belt.

Kindrew is one of approximately 200 participants in this year’s Carbon County Senior Games.

“I started bowling when I was 14,” said Kindrew, 78.

He bowled in a junior league until he went into the service, and following his time in the military, picked up a bowling ball again in Palmerton and has been bowling ever since.

“I enjoy it. I’m in two leagues,” Kindrew said.

Bowling a 300 in bowling is tough, so to have eight perfect games is something to be proud of.

In 2012, Kindrew even bowled a perfect game during the senior games.

So what keeps Kindrew coming back for 14 years?

“I like to meet the people and have a good time,” he said. “It’s relaxing and I like the competition.”

He said that he tries to encourage anyone to come out to participate because it’s not just about competing, it’s about making friends and enjoying new experiences.

“If you like competition, this is the place to go,” Kindrew said. “You have to come here to experience this and meet all the different people from different areas.”
