Palmerton Democrats to meet

The Palmerton Area Democratic Club will hold a meet and greet for Democratic candidates for Carbon County row offices and local positions, including Palmerton Area School Board.

The event will be from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmerton Hotel, 302 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Candidates will include Rocky Ahner and Bob Jacobs for Carbon County commissioner; Jean Engler, district attorney; Bill Richards, register of wills; Fran Heaney, clerk of courts; JoAnn Behrens, prothonotary; T.J. McCall, controller; Tony Harvilla, sheriff; and Bob Miller, coroner.

Candidates for the Palmerton Area School Board, Palmerton Borough Council, and supervisors in Towamensing and Lower Towamensing Townships are also expected to be present.

Reservations are not required, but would be appreciated to aid planning.

At 7 p.m., the meeting will be called to order, with a brief commemoration of 9/11 before introduction of the candidates.
