Palmerton library to hold annual art show Sunday
Artists and art enthusiasts alike will gather at the Palmerton Area Library on Sunday for its 14th annual art show, which will feature the work of local creators.
The event at the library on Delaware Avenue is sponsored every year by the Friends of the Palmerton Area Library, a nonprofit that supports the library through fundraisers.
Library Director Christine DeSousa said this weekend’s show will include about 60 pieces, ranging from detailed paintings to intricate sculptures or drawings. The entry fee is $7 a head and includes lunch.
Some of the art will be on sale, and a part of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to the library.
DeSousa says her favorite part of the show is the exposure it gives to local artists.
“Sometimes, you don’t know that your next door neighbor does beautiful paintings,” she said, “or your second-grade teacher, who does like really fantastic coal sketches.”
“What I think is the best part is definitely having the community seeing what their other community members can do.”
The show starts at noon and ends at 3 p.m.
