Palmerton man charged with DUI, possession of marijuana
A Palmerton man has been charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Adam Shimer of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:
Police were dispatched on May 28 for an erratic driver traveling east on Lehigh Avenue.
The caller said the vehicle performed a burnout in the area of the Palmerton Hotel, almost striking her vehicle. She provided the vehicle’s registration and said it was gray Volkswagen that had heavy front-end damage.
Shimer stopped the car and the driver was identified as Dustin Fierro, 23.
Fierro failed field sobriety tests and he admitted to drinking an alcoholic beverage and smoking marijuana.
Shimer searched the car and discovered a metal grinder that contained marijuana.
At 5:27 p.m., Fierro consented to a legal blood draw, and the results indicated he had amphetamines, methamphetamine, cannabinoids, BLD THC, Delta 9 and THC, Carboxy-Delta 9 in his blood. Fierro’s license was under suspension.
Fierro is charged with three counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance; and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession or delivery of a small amount of marijuana or hashish, and careless driving.
He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Oct. 2 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
