Palmerton man charged with possession of methamphetamine
A Palmerton man has been charged with possession of methamphetamine following a search of his vehicle.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Adam Shimer of the Palmerton Borough Police Department:
On the morning of Aug. 11, Shimer was conducting property checks when a black 2015 Nissan was observed parking behind the D&D Car Wash.
Shimer checked on the Nissan and was approached by a man identified as Christian Schwarz, 23.
Schwarz was questioned, at which time he started emptying his pockets, handing each item within a baggie that contained a green vegetable material consistent with marijuana. His wallet which had a baggie of white powder that Schwarz had identified as “ICE” or methamphetamine.
Schwarz consented to a search of his vehicle and directed Shimer to the center console, at which time he recovered a gray pipe with residue consistent with marijuana.
Shimer field tested the alleged marijuana, which tested positive.
Shimer also field tested the alleged methamphetamine, which field tested positive.
Schwarz faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance; possession or delivery of a small amount of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Oct. 2 before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
