Palmerton man killed in hit-and-run

A 37-year-old Carbon County man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash at 9:08 p.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of Mauch Chunk Road in South Whitehall Township.

Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Scott T. White of Palmerton was pronounced dead at 9:38 p.m. Sunday by Deputy Coroner Cassandra Schiffner.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed today to determine the cause of death, Grim said.

According to South Whitehall Township police, the preliminary investigation indicated a 2014-2017 silver Toyota Highlander was involved.

The vehicle sustained front grill and bumper damage and possibly has a broken passenger-side headlight, police said.
