Holy Trinity News

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship services with Holy Communion at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Adult Sunday school is at 9 a.m. and Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. Bible studies for the month of April are Monday afternoons at St. Matthew’s from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Also Thursday mornings at Holy Trinity from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Adult Education Room. Morning prayer is 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the sanctuary.

PTO basket raffle

S.S. Palmer-Parkside PTO will hold its annual basket raffle from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Palmerton High School cafeteria. Tickets will be drawn at approximately 3 p.m. There is also a separate higher-value raffle. Hot food is available and a bake sale will be held.

Street cleaning

Palmerton borough’s street cleaning program runs April 1 through Oct. 31. Signs are posted on each street indicating the day for that street’s schedule. The schedule can also be found on the borough’s website at www.palmertonborough.com.

First UCC

Worship service on Sunday at First United Church of Christ, 457 Delaware Ave., Palmerton will be at 9 a.m. A congregational meeting will be held immediately following the service. Please plan to attend this meeting to discuss repairs and maintenance concerns as well as the direction of the church.

Please note there are still open seats available on the church council. Consider joining the council. Meetings are held once a month.

Library board

The Palmerton Area Library Board of Directors will meet at the Library at 4 p.m. April 18. Meetings are open to the public.

Al-Anon groups

Al-Anon Family Groups meet at different locations in the Palmerton area. From 7-8 p.m. on Mondays, Al-Anon Family Group/Serenity Seekers meets at Salem United Methodist Church 4145 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. Call 484-477-9697 for more information.

Alateen Support Group for teens of family struggling with alcohol meets at Faith Alive United Methodist Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Adult Al-Anon and AA meetings take place at the same time. Call 570-730-8601 for more information.

Courage to Change Al-Anon Family Group meets at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton from 7-8 p.m. on Thursdays. For more information call 484-221-1026.

Senior Center

The Palmerton Senior Center, 501 Delaware Ave., Palmerton (Ambulance building) serves lunch daily at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. For lunch reservations call the day before by 9:30 a.m. at 610-826-4505. Activities include pinochle, penny games and bingo.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include egg to order, potatoes, pancakes, hash, ham, bacon, sausage and more.

Wing, taco and clam specials are every Wednesday night from 5-8 p.m. Dinner is served every Friday night from 4-8 p.m.

Prince & princess party

A Prince and Princess Party will be hosted by the Palmerton Area Music Parents Association from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 21 at the high school, 3529 Fireline Road. Children are invited to attend the event in their favorite Disney costume (regular attire is also welcome). Chorus members will be sharing their talents while they perform some of their Disney tunes. Activities included in the ticket price are crafts, sing-along, face painting and more. Food will be available for purchase as well as a photo opportunity. A treasure chest of goodies will also be sold.

This is a fundraiser for the music students traveling to Disney in November. Fliers with ticket order form will be sent home to all elementary students or contact pampacares@gmail. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Class of 1948

The Palmerton Area High School Class of 1948 is having their quarterly gathering at noon April 19 at Bert’s Steak House in Palmerton. Please try to attend since this year the class will be celebrating 70 years since graduation. Spouses, companions and caregivers are welcome.
