Spring Basket Lenten service
Five area churches join together each year for Wednesday evening Lenten Services. Jerusalem UCC, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Salem-St. Paul Lutheran, St. Matthew’s UCC and Salem UCC will hold a joint service on April 10 at Salem United Church of Christ, Gilbert. The preacher will be the Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope. The theme will be “Build on the Rock.”
A simple soup supper will be held from 6-6:45 p.m. Worship is at 7 p.m. Choir rehearsal will be at 6:30 p.m. Choir members from all churches are invited to sing each week.
Spectacular
The 19th Annual Spring Basket Spectacular hosted by the Concourse Club of Palmerton will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The event will be held at St. John’s Towamensing Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. Food will be available for purchase.
Breakfast with Bunny
Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the Parryville Volunteer Fire Company, 359 Main St., Parryville. Platter choices include pancakes, French toast, SOS, eggs, omelets or the popular Fire House Mess. Choice of meats are bacon, ham, sausage or scrapple. Includes home fries, juice and coffee. Large and small platters are available. For takeout orders call 610-852-2350.
Special guest will be the Easter bunny.
Community meal
A free community meal will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. April 9 at St. John’s UCC, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. The meal will include pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, corn and homemade desserts. Enjoy a meal and fellowship.
Peapods Storytime
Peapods Storytime for ages birth to 2 years will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. April 9 at the Palmerton Area Library. Join for stories, finger plays and music geared to very young learners. This is a great time for caregivers and parents of little ones to meet.
Scavenger hunt
A Tweens Scavenger Hunt will be held at the Palmerton Area Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. April 10. In celebration of National Library week, kids ages 10-13 are invited to test their library skills on a scavenger hunt. Stop at the front desk after school and pick up an activity sheet. This adventure can be done in groups or solo. Once all the activities are completed, stop back at the front desk for a prize.
Council meeting
The regular meeting of Palmerton Borough Council will be held at 7 p.m. April 11 in Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. The April meetings will be held April 11 and 25.
