Palmerton news for Oct. 4
Breakfast
Towamensing Volunteer Fire Co., 105 Firehouse Road, Palmerton (Trachsville), will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday. The menu includes scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, chipped beef, juice, milk, coffee and tea.
Emmanuel UCC
Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 509 Hamilton St., Bowmanstown will hold a fall bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be a Chinese auction, raffle, homemade soup, bake sale, handcrafted wooden items, and the kitchen will be open.
The service at 9 a.m. Sunday will be Music Sunday. They will be singing old-time and some new hymns. The choir will sing anthems. All are welcome to come and enjoy this special music service.
Scarecrows
Scarecrows are coming to Palmerton on Delaware Avenue. The storefronts and business windows will be showcasing their creativity with a fall display either in their windows or in front of their buildings. This is not a contest. Contact Joan Turko for more information at 610-826-2716.
Fundraiser
Concourse Club of Palmerton will be participating in Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends promotion. Concourse Club sells a ticket for the Oct. 17 sale. This is a good fundraiser for Concourse Club which supports many organizations in Palmerton. For tickets, contact Joan Turko at 610-826-2716 or any member of the club. Store hours that day are 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Concourse Club
Concourse Club of Palmerton will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday for a potluck and recipe swap. Do you have a favorite ethnic or family dish you want to share? Bring the dish as well as a few copies of the recipe, and join in for the Concourse’s classic potluck. Meetings are held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fireline Road, Palmerton.
Library concert
The Shakespearience: Lyrical Lines and Leading Ladies featuring Mandy Brown, soprano, and Sherry Freund, piano. The concert will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Palmerton Area Library, (upstairs in the gallery), 402 Delaware Ave. Donations accepted at the door.
Friends meeting
Friends of the Palmerton Area Library will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Everyone is welcome.
Story hour
Preschool Story Hour is held every Friday at 10:30 a.m. during the school year. Free and open to the public. Call the library at 610-826-3424 for information.
Spaghetti dinner
An all you can eat spaghetti dinner will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 500 Ore St., Bowmanstown. Come and support the young adults group.
Community meal
A free community meal will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. All are invited to join together for a meal and fellowship.
