Palmerton police log

Palmerton Police Department reported the following incidents:

Bad check: Chasidy Salerno, 24, Weissport, was charged for an incident July 12 in the 200 block of Delaware Avenue.

Maximum gross weight: Marco CalleCalle, 48, Belleville, New Jersey, and Oscar Velasquez, 41, Elizabeth, New York, at Franklin Avenue and Mauch Chunk Road; John Venosa, 52, Staten Island, New York, in the 900 block of Mauch Chunk Road; Rolando Urgiles, 47, Belleville, New Jersey, at Route 248 and Mauch Chunk Road. All were charged Nov. 7.

Citations: Police also issued three citations for speeding and one for vehicle violation.

Mauch Chunk Road was sh@t the 22 years I lived there and it still is. Big trucks drove on that road before and never were stopped let alone charged. This is RACKETEERING at it's finest. Praise Jesus for Sovereign Immunity tho! Let's charge people trying to make a living and help stimulate the economy of Carbon County/ Palmerton with a stupid vehicle violation.

Over weight is against the law. It damages our roads and makes our taxes higher. These are outsiders driving like maniacs on side roads. It has nothing to do with encouraging economic growth. Although the trucking company is out-of-state and taking jobs away from local residents. You rant has no basis in reality!
Y did you stay for 22 years if didnt like it? I agree about stopping them now. But u got to start somewhere. Rigjt??
I’ve posted before about this in a previous article some time ago. These trucks are hauling into the super fund off of hazard road. They are traveling from NYC area hauling sludge & dregenings from the Hudson River. 95% of them are registered in NJ which means they are not buying fuel in PA (because it’s cheaper in NJ) so that means they are not paying road tax which equates to they are not contributing money to help fix our roads. They are also way over weight. Legal GVWR on a triaxle dump truck is 73,280. I’ve personally seen these guys going in there weighing over 100,000 lbs. It’s not only illegal but it’s dangerous.
