Panther Valley to dismiss early at intermediate and high schools
A water main issue in Lansford Borough has prompted Panther Valley School District to dismiss its intermediate and high school students early on Friday.
The high school will be dismissing at 11:15 a.m., while the intermediate school will be letting out at noon.
“There is a water main issue in Lansford in the vicinity of the townhouses,” Panther Valley Superintendent Dennis Kergick said in an e-mail. “The water is going to be shut off to the high school and intermediate school. No water limits our options.”
A six-inch water main serving the school and Lansford Townhomes, as well as a handful of other customers failed Friday morning, according to workers at the scene. The line is owned by the Summit Hill Water Authority.
The workers said the line would be repaired Friday afternoon.
Panther Valley Elementary School will be in for the full day since there is no impact in Nesquehoning.
