Senior Center
The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of April 16-20 is:
Monday: Broccoli cheese soup, barbecue chicken sandwich, potato wedges and fruit.
Tuesday: Roast turkey, sweet potatoes and peas or buffalo chicken sandwich.
Wednesday: Pork chop, roasted potatoes and cauliflower or barbecue chicken sandwich.
Thursday: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans or cottage cheese and fruit.
Friday: Chef salad with chicken, potato salad and Jello.
The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events through April 27.
There will be Nickel-Keeno at 11 a.m. on April 16; Birthday Bingo at 11 a.m. on April 17; Poker-Keeno at 11 a.m. on April 18; Senior Games practice starting at 10:30 a.m. on April 19; Board Games at 11 a.m. on April 20.
Try your skills with Minute to Win It at 11 a.m. on April 23; Scattergories at 11 a.m. on April 24; Bingo at 11 a.m. April 25; Senior Games Practice starting at 10:30 a.m. on April 26; Movie and Popcorn starting at 10 a.m. on April 27.
VFW Auxiliary
The regular monthly meeting of the VFW Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial Post 8008 will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 20 at the post home. Nomination and election of officers for 2018-19 will be held at this meeting.
All members are invited to attend.
Basket raffle
A basket raffle and food sale will be held on Sunday at the Nesquehoning Hose Company, 953 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning. Doors open at 10 a.m. and drawing is at 3 p.m.
The raffle benefits the Nesquehoning Christmas Lights project.

Street sweeping
Summit Hill Borough has announced its tentative street sweeping schedule, which is slated to begin on Thursday.
Please watch for streets to be posted and move vehicles accordingly. If vehicles are not moved, owners will receive a parking ticket.
Day 1 — North Side of Ludlow, White, Hazard and both sides of Linden, Ginder and Church
Day 2 — South Side of Ludlow, White, Hazard and both sides of Vernon and Pine
Day 3 — North Side of Lehigh, Fell, Amidon and West Side of Oak, Walnut, Chestnut
Day 4 — South Side of Lehigh, Fell, Amidon and East Side of Oak, Walnut, Chestnut
Day 5 — North Side of Holland, Walter and West Side of Market, Poplar, Spruce and All of Carbon Alley
Day 6 — South Side of Holland, Walter and East Side of Market, Poplar, Spruce and All of School and Iron
Day 7 — East and West Mountaintop Road and Stoney Lonesome Road
Day 8 — Both sides of McMurtrie, Berea, Mill, Richards, Union, Ridge and Summit
