About 100 Panther Valley students walked out of class Wednesday morning in support of those who lost their lives in the shooting in Parkland, Florida, last month.

The group had the support of the principal, guidance counselor and a couple of teachers as well.

Superintendent Dennis Kergick said the students would not face discipline for participating in the protest.

“Our students were well-behaved and treated the somber situation with respect,” Kergick said.

Teacher Rick Morgans said the students formed a circle of solidarity at one point. After 17 minutes, they returned to class.
