Parade, dedication set for new West Penn firetruck
The crown jewel of the West Penn Township Fire Company’s fleet is set to be featured prominently.
A parade and dedication for the fire company’s new 2018 KME Predator Panther Custom Engine will be held on Saturday.
Township fire Chief Dennis Fritzinger Jr. said the event will begin at the Andreas Sporting Club with apparatus judging at 9 a.m.
Fritzinger said a parade will follow at 11 a.m., and will go from Andreas Road to Pine Hill Road, to School Road, to Municipal Road, before ending at the fire house.
He said the dedication ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m., with awards from the apparatus judging to follow. There will be food and refreshments at the fire house.
Fritzinger said fire company officers and members would like to thank everyone who made the purchase possible, as well as those who have helped with the organization and funding of the dedication ceremony.
“With this piece of apparatus, we are able to protect the citizens of the township in an easier and safer manner,” Fritzinger said. “Hope to see everyone there to help us celebrate a great accomplishment, not only for this department, but for the residents of the township as well.”
The fire company took out a 10-year loan for $350,000 through Community First National Bank.
It will use funding from the township, as well as hold fundraisers, to pay back the loan.
