Parryville budget passes with no tax increase

The 2019 budget for the Borough of Parryville was passed unanimously at the council meeting held Saturday. As a result, tax rates will remain the same for homeowners. Council member Ralph Washburn was not present for the vote.

Council then agreed to advertise the tax ordinance for approval at the next scheduled meeting.

In other business, council:

• Discussed road conditions at Main and Centre Street caused by water and ice buildup. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be contacted.

• Accepted a $1,456 grant from Horsehead Corp. for the purchase of playground equipment.

• Agreed to issue a check to the Parryville Fire Company for $2,500 toward the purchase of new air packs.
