PennDOT worker struck by vehicle in Luzerne

An elderly driver struck a PennDOT worker after crashing into the back of a work truck Friday morning, according to police.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Route 940 in Foster Township, Luzerne County.

State police said at the time, 83-year-old Lester J. Calello of Drifton was driving westbound on Route 940 through a work zone.

Calello’s vehicle struck the back of a parked PennDOT truck, then rolled backward and hit a PennDOT worker.

Troopers identified the worker as Anthony Colombo, 55, of Hazleton. No details on his condition were available.
