Petition-filing period begins in Carbon
Eleven Democratic petitions from nine candidates and 10 Republican ones from seven candidates were filed in the Carbon County Elections Office as of late Friday by people who are aspiring to elective offices in 2019.
The filings allow the filers to secure their names on the May 21 primary election ballots.
To successfully file the petitions, they must contain the signatures of 10 registered voters in the jurisdiction in which the candidate is seeking office in a borough, township or school district, or the signatures of 100 registered voters from throughout the county on behalf of people seeking county offices.
The petition circulating period began on Feb. 19 and will run through the end of the work day on March 12.
