Philadelphia man given state prison term for drug dealing

A Philadelphia man was sentenced to a state prison term on Monday for drug-dealing and related charges.

Kadeen Dashon Crawford, 29, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to serve 15 to 36 months in a state correction institution.

Crawford previously pleaded guilty to counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, aggravated assault and flight to avoid apprehension.

Crawford was arrested on Feb. 26, 2016, by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop along Route 534 in Kidder Township. While troopers were speaking with Crawford, he suddenly pulled away in his vehicle with trooper Jeffrey Kreidler partially in the driver’s side window.

The chase continued onto Interstate 80 where Crawford was eventually stopped.

Matika also ordered him to render 100 hours of community service when paroled, get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, supply a DNA sample and pay court costs of about $1,000.

Crawford, who is an inmate in the Lycoming County prison facing other charges, was given credit for 10 days already served.
