Philadelphia woman found to have marijuana
A Philadelphia woman faces charges after she was found to have marijuana on her while being transferred to Carbon County on a bench warrant.
Rosalie Sotomayor, 37, of the 2000 block of North Fairhill Street, faces counts on one charge each of contraband/controlled substance, possess control subs, contraband/inmate, possession of drug paraphernalia, and prohibited acts, penalties.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Richard Neikam of the Nesquehoning Police Department, on March 16, Neikam spoke to Sgt. Marcel Barbeau of the Carbon County Correctional Facility, who explained that Sotomayor was transferred from Philadelphia by the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office on a bench warrant.
Barbeau said that upon searching the contents of Sotomayor’s purse, he discovered a hand-rolled cigar containing what appeared to be marijuana. He also found a blue container with what appeared to be a green leafy substance inside, along with a small green container with a green lid.
Barbeau confiscated the items and turned them over to Neikam at the correctional facility. A test on the leaflike substance yielded a positive result for marijuana.
