Police detect DUI suspect in stop

The driver of a vehicle stopped by state police at the Lehighton barracks for a motor vehicle code violation will be charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police said they stopped a 2008 GMC Envoy at 3:10 a.m. Feb. 7 at the intersection of East Lizard Creek and West Bowmans roads in East Penn Township.

They suspected the driver to be impaired. Police said the suspect refused all chemical testing and will be charged accordingly. Police did not name the driver.
