Police: Girl, 6, shoots self in foot after finding gun

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say a 6-year-old girl accidentally shot herself in the foot with a gun she found in north Philadelphia.

Police say the child was playing in the basement of a house in the Olney neighborhood shortly after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when she found a gun in a school bag.
After the child accidentally shot herself in the left foot, her mother drove her to Einstein Medical Center, where she was placed in stable condition.
Police say the weapon was recovered. No arrests were immediately announced.
