Police investigating robbery in Monroe

State police at Stroudsburg are investigating a robbery that took place at 8:17 p.m. Dec. 19 at the S & M Mart, Business Route 209, Hamilton Township.

Police said a white man, approximately 6 feet tall, entered the front door of the store while the clerk was closing for the evening, and demanded cash from the register drawer and two cartons of cigarettes. Police said the cash and cigarettes added up to $3,712.07.

He was wearing khaki work pants, dark-colored boots, a dark gray jacket with a black hoodie underneath it, a black glove on his left hand and a red and black glove on his right hand. Police said the suspect’s face was covered with a neon yellow reflective safety vest.

Police said no weapon was displayed during the altercation. They said a neighbor of the business observed the man get into a white utility truck that was parked away from the store. It fled eastbound on Business Route 209.
