Police: LV men recorded themselves installing illegal device

Published October 01. 2019 08:11AM

BETHLEHEM (AP) — Two men who police say recorded themselves as they installed illegal recording devices in the home of one of their former partners are now facing charges.

Hanover residents Vito Villani and Fred Rice III are both accused of intercepting communications. Villani also faces a conspiracy count.

Colonial Regional police say a recording device found in an air vent of Villani’s estranged wife’s home contained a recording of the men installing it in July.

Authorities say the device had 98 separate recordings overall. The first 71 recordings were of Rice’s ex-girlfriend, and sounded like they were taken from inside her vehicle.

Villani’s attorney says his client maintains his innocence. It wasn’t known Monday if Rice has retained an attorney.

The Nixon way of conducting business! How non-genius and trumpy of them! Nozdrowie, Slovenian filth eaters!
CT, this is something you would do. I am going to tie your babushka in a knot and stuff it up your a** until you beg for a Trump wig! When Trump gets re-elected you will be climbing the walls at the mental hospital! Keep it up! We will film it.
If the government does this stuff it's ok. Just like it was ok for the government to get the IP address of this account from the Times News, get my roommates subscriber information from Blue Ridge Cable/PTD then sift thru the data to determine who was exercising their First Amendment right to free speech. All because they don't like what I have to say. If I didn't commit a crime how was this info legally obtained? Chilling effects might work on some people but this soldier ain't going down without a fight.
Now I think I'm in Love! I was heavily electronically surveilled for about four or five years myself. At least half the people who knew me were probably expecting me to start wearing a tinfoil hat any day. Wasn't till the end of that time period, or maybe a little after that I finally figured out why they were doing this. Turns out they actually had cause! But that didn't make it any more constitutional or right. Notice I didn't say 'legal' because it very well may have been legal, but also certainly unconstitutional. Worst part about it is they don't have to plant 'bugs': we do it ourselves with every or almost every electronic device we surround ourselves with now. Krystal, there's almost a tone of surprise or confusion when you talk about our government spying on us. Remember, this is the same government that used expediency as an excuse for melting a couple hundred thousand civilians in Japan on a bright, sunny, Summer morning a while ago. Huh, and that's when they still had some respect for the US Constitution. Rights? We have no rights. Might is almost always right. And it will be, till we as citizens get so fed up with that boot on our necks that we do what needs to be done. Almost seems like that will never happen. People (certainly I'm included) keep telling themselves, "It's not that bad, I'll just turn a little bit that way so the heel isn't digging into my carotid artery so bad. Yeah, that's better. I can do this forever." You know ya can't though.
