Police: Man was doing drugs on Towamensing school property

State police at the Lehighton barracks said a man who was using drugs on an elementary school campus will be charged.

Police were called to the Towamensing Elementary School, 7920 Interchange Road, Towamensing Township, to investigate a report of a person believed to be doing drugs on school property.

The incident happened at 12:14 p.m. Aug. 23 when school personnel called police saying a man was sitting on the stairs of a portable classroom outside the school and believed to be using a controlled substance.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the man, whose identity has not been released, passed out on the stairs. He was awakened and EMS personnel were summoned to evaluate him.

Police said the drugs were seized and charges will be filed.
