Police report on drug and alcohol charges

• A 21-year-old Summit Hill man has been charged by borough police with indecent exposure, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after police were called to an apartment building on W. Hazard St. at 2 a.m. Oct. 6.

Dewey James Keer, 311 E. Fell St., was cited after police found him in a highly-intoxicated state, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by police.

Police said they found Keer standing between cement stairs and a cement wall on the southeast side of the building, with his pants around his ankles.

Police said Keer admitted to being intoxicated and had slurred speech and staggered while walking.

• A Luzerne County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence and related counts following an incident on Oct. 3 about 9:55 p.m.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said they were dispatched to a reported reckless driver traveling south on Route 115 from Luzerne County into Monroe County. The white Dodge Dakota was being driven erratically, almost hitting the embankment along the berm and going into the opposing lane of travel almost hitting other vehicles head-on.

Police spotted the vehicle in the area of routes 115 and 940 and began to follow it. When police initiated a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle almost struck the police cruiser.

The driver was identified as Jenne Desmond, 45, of Bear Creek Township. Officers detected the odor of alcohol coming from her and placed her under arrest. She was taken to the state police barracks at Fern Ridge where she submitted to a breath test. As a result she had been charged with DUI and traffic violations.

• A Summit Hill woman has been arrested by borough police on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Donna M. Shehadi, 63, of White Bear Drive, was charged after police were summoned to her residence at 10:24 p.m. Sept. 23 for a welfare check.

Police said the officer smelled the odor of burned marijuana coming from inside the residence. Police said when the woman was questioned about the smell, she handed him a glass pipe with burned residue on it.

• Caleb Montanero, 34, of Hazleton was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after a Sept. 26 incident. McAdoo Police stopped a vehicle for traveling the wrong way on South D Street. After speaking to Montanero, police detected the odor of marijuana. After a search police found a small container with stems and pieces of marijuana in his vehicle.
