Police report razor blade hidden in candy

Published November 01. 2018 12:35PM

Parents of children who trick or treated in Summit Hill last night should check their candy.

Police are investigating a report of two pieces of candy having razor blades hidden inside them.

Police Chief Joseph Fittos confirmed that officers were called to a residence for a Hershey bar and large Tootsie Roll both containing hidden razor blades Wednesday night following the annual event.

He said that as of Thursday morning, police had not received any other reports of tainted candy so this may be an isolated incident.

He also said that the rumor of rusty nails being found in other candy that was circulating Facebook along with the picture of the razor blade in the Hershey bar was unfounded or not reported to them.

Still, Fittos said, he wants parents to be aware of the issue and check the candy before allowing their child to eat it.

If you find a piece of candy in your child’s trick-or-treat goodies that has been tampered with, call Summit Hill police at 570-645-7429.
