Police report on Schuylkill crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating two crashes on Jan. 8 along Schuylkill County roads.
• A one-vehicle hit-and run crash was reported at 7:30 a.m. along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said a vehicle was driven southbound when it left its lane of travel and drove onto the south berm. The vehicle then struck a mailbox and mile marker sign. The vehicle re-entered the road and the driver continued southbound with stopping to report the crash.
No information was available about the vehicle.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 3:21 p.m. along Schuylkill Mountain Road in South Manheim Township. Alyssa M. Shade, 34, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2018 Jeep Patriot eastbound when her vehicle hit a patch of ice causing the Jeep to slide across the westbound lane and onto the berm. The Jeep then struck several trees in the area of 1332 Schuylkill Mountain Road before coming to rest in the front yard of that address.
Shade was not injured and the Jeep had to be towed. She was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
