Police respond to gunshot victim in Tamaqua

Tamaqua Police and EMS personnel were called to Fegley’s Mini Mart on Center Street early Tuesday morning for a reported gun shot victim.

Few details are available, other than the call came in around 2 a.m. and the victim is a man who was shot in the chest.

Tamaqua Police Chief Rick Weaver says the investigation is in the preliminary stages, with officers still gathering evidence and conducting interviews.

The victim was transported to St. Luke’s University Hospital, Bethlehem. He was scheduled to undergo surgery this morning.
