A Luzerne County man is charged in a burglary in Kidder Township.

Andrew Wisniewski, 23, of White Haven, faces charges on one count of burglary, criminal trespass — breaking into structure, theft by unlawful taking — movable property, and receiving stolen property.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Joseph David of the Kidder Township Police Department:

At 9:46 a.m. Aug. 1, David and officer David Mason were dispatched by Carbon County Communications Center to a residence on Squirrel Trail in Pocono Mountain Lakes for a burglary.

At 10:12 a.m., officers found the side and side door kicked in and the glass in the door broken. Officers checked the interior of the residence and found no one inside, but noticed the residence was ransacked.

David and Mason spoke with a neighbor who was able to show them a still photograph of a man standing near the door of the residence.

The individual appeared to be Wisniewski, who was involved in an earlier missing person incident at a residence along Gopher Gap Lane.

Officers were notified by Carbon County Communications that Wisniewski had returned to his residence.

David and Mason went to the address and made contact with Wisniewski, who was immediately placed into investigative detention and placed in the vehicle.

David spoke with a homeowner at the Squirrel Trail address by telephone.

The homeowner was able to send police footage from the security camera placed near the door showing Wisniewski at the residence at 11:27 p.m. on July 31.

The video identified Wisniewski as the man at the residence with no permission to be there.

Wisniewski willingly showed police where he placed the items he had taken from a residence to the rear of an address on Wolf Way in a wooded area near the lake.

David retrieved a black BB gun/handgun valued at $60; a black container of Copperhead BB’s ($10); a white remote controlled drone ($20); a pair of Nautica pajama pants ($40); and miscellaneous fireworks ($30); for a total value of $160.

Upon returning to the station, David spoke with the homeowner again, he verified these were his items and provided him with values.

Wisniewski stated that he heard voices that told him to break into the residence.

Wisniewski is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 straight bail.

Wisniewski is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 15 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
