Police suspect DUI in Penn Forest crash

A two-vehicle crash was reported on Oct. 31 about 9:14 p.m. along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. State police at Lehighton said Kevin R. Marnell, 83, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2006 Toyota Sienna northbound while Stephen F. Stripe, 56, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2007 Saturn Vue southbound.

Troopers said Marnell was affected by a physical condition causing his vehicle to cross the double yellow line and collided into Stripe’s vehicle.

After the collision Marnell left the scene and was later located and taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. No one was injured in the crash.
