Police: Tamaqua man broke into apartment, hit sleeping woman

A Tamaqua man faces assault and burglary charges after a domestic incident on Dec. 18.

Luis G. Morales, 27, was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, theft by unlawful taking and simple assault. A witness called police and said that Morales broke into her apartment on North Railroad Street through a side window and assaulted her while she slept on the couch.

The witness complained of head pain and had a lump on the top of her head.

The woman said Morales hit her in the head and face. She said Morales said he wouldn’t stop until she was dead. He eventually left the apartment. The woman said Morales does not live there and he had taken her house keys during the incident.

He has waived the charges to Schuylkill County Court.
