Police: Trooper shot, wounded man who pointed gun at police

FELTON, Pa. (AP) — State police in Pennsylvania say a trooper shot and wounded a man after they allege he pointed a weapon at officers responding to a domestic dispute.

Police in York County say troopers were dispatched at about 11 p.m. Monday to an East Hopewell Township home and were told that the man was intoxicated and had left in a car.

A caller told police he was at a Crossroads residence, and troopers went there and began to approach the driveway when they found the man. They allege he pointed a gun at them, prompting one trooper to open fire, hitting the man multiple times.

The man was taken to York Hospital, where there was no immediate word on his condition.

Thirty-year-old Clifton Blevins was charged Tuesday with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple assault, reckless endangering and weapons counts. Court documents don’t list a defense attorney and a telephone number for Blevins couldn’t be found Tuesday.
