Published December 22. 2017 12:18PM

Polk Township has passed its budget for 2018 and the millage will remain at 4.3 mills for another year.

The supervisors also recognized zoning officer Jerry Zurat, who retired after 17 years of service to the township. Zurat received a plaque and a pocket watch by the township.

The purchase of the small tract of land joining the two township parks will be completed this week. The strip of land permits access to the stream. The supervisors approved a contract with Grace Industries to repair the bridge on Middle Creek Road.

The bridge was damaged in a car crash and the insurance company is paying for the $14,545 in repairs.

Advertising for a part-time office assistant was approved as well as creating a new position of assistant roadmaster.

The office assistant will be responsible for website updates and working with the recycling and solid waste programs.

The job description for the assistant roadmaster has not be completed.
