Pool Pals and LDI to host 2019 Cabin Fever Dance

The Lehighton Area Pool Pals will once again host their annual Cabin Fever Dance, this time with assistance from the Lehighton Downtown Initiative.

However, this time around, the eighth annual dance will be hosted at the Lehighton American Legion on Feb. 16, according to Lehighton Area Pool Pals President Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said the dance will feature the band “The Left Edge,” which has been rated as one of the top two classic rock cover bands in the Philadelphia area by radio station WMGK-FM 102.9.

“The Lehighton Downtown Initiative group, commonly called LDI, has been doing some great and dynamic things around Lehighton over the past few years,” Hoffman said. “Their mission statement aligns with the Pool Pals in similar ways, knowing both groups want to do things that support our town and make it a better place for residents to live and visitors to enjoy.

“Ironically, the American Legion also has a renewed focus of making sure the residents of Lehighton are aware of the beautiful facilities they have available for events like this.”

Hoffman said that the final details for the dance are still being worked out and will be shared soon.

“The Pool Pals and LDI are hoping to see a capacity crowd to support the American Legion and their two groups for their first joint effort on Saturday,” he said.

Hoffman noted that the Pool Pals have held the annual dance at the Orioles, “and it has been a huge success thanks to the fun-loving tune spinning DJ Doc/Layne Roberts, as well as the beautiful facilities the Orioles have to offer.”

“Knowing the success we have had over the past seven years made the decision to change the venue of this year’s event difficult, however the timing was right to implement a change for a couple of reasons,” he said. “The beautiful Lehighton pool recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary and continues to attract more and more patrons every year.”

The fact that the pool is financially stable allows the Pool Pals to refocus more on events that support and give back to the community.
