Pursuit ends with stolen car in Lansford crash

A Lansford man who crashed into another vehicle in Nesquehoning last weekend led police on a pursuit Thursday night that ended with the stolen vehicle he was driving crashing into a home in Lansford.
Nesquehoning police Chief Sean Smith said charges against Brandon Leslie, 31, of East Snyder Avenue.
Thursday said officers were continuing the investigation regarding Saturday’s traffic crash when an officer saw suspicious behavior in the parking lot of Redner’s Warehouse Market.
The officer ran the tags on the vehicle and the tags came back to another car.
When police tried to initiate a traffic stop along Route 209, the vehicle in question stopped in the parking area of Panther Valley High School.
As the officer parked to approach the vehicle, Leslie took off.
Smith said a pursuit back into Nesquehoning occurred before Leslie turned and headed back up Route 209 toward Lansford.
Lansford police assisted in the pursuit.
The vehicle eventually turned off Route 209 to avoid apprehension and began traveling down Kline Avenue.
At the intersection of Kline Avenue and Walnut Street, Leslie clipped another vehicle and crashed into a home.
The driver of the vehicle Leslie struck, as well as two passengers in Leslie’s vehicle, were taken for evaluation.
Leslie sustained cuts to his head and was taken to the hospital for treatment, as well as blood work for suspected narcotics.
Smith said police learned the vehicle Leslie was driving had been reported stolen and that Leslie had multiple active warrants.
Leslie was then taken to Carbon County Correctional Facility on the warrants.
Charges from Nesquehoning are pending against Leslie in this case, as well as last Saturday’s crash. Additional charges are also pending from Lansford police.
In addition to Lansford police, Lansford and Coaldale fire departments, Lansford Fire Police, Lehighton ALS, Krajcirik’s Automotive, Marouchoc’s Auto, BGM Construction and state police assisted in the incident.
The investigation for both incidents is continuing.
