Raising the House volunteer and Towamensing Elementary teacher Bill Zeky presented a check for $150 to Palmerton Mayor Christopher Olivia for the borough and the Palmerton Police Department on behalf of his organization.

Zeky said that the borough and the police have provided indispensable help for Raising the House, especially when it comes to the annual 5K in March, where they raise most of their annual funding.

“The borough allows us to use this building, and use the town for our 5K. The police help us block off the roads, and so we’re giving them a little money for all of the money that they have helped us raise,” Zeky said.

Raising the House was started in memory of Blaine R. House, a teacher at Towamensing Elementary School in the Palmerton Area School District who passed away in 2013.
