Ready for dinner

  • Empty

Four baby American robins reach for food from their nest in a shrub outside a garage in Brodheadsville. At right the parent brings worms and breaks them up to feed to the babies. Both parents feed the babies, though the female does more. The young are ready to leave the nest about 14-16 days after hatching. The male may tend the fledged young while female begins a second nesting attempt. Usually there are two broods per season, sometimes three. MARTA GOUGER/TIMES NEWS
