Rear-end crash reported

State police at Frackville reported investigating a rear-end crash at 12:20 p.m. Saturday along Route 901 at the on-ramp to Interstate 81 in Foster Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Erik R. Hill, 18, of Laureldale, Berks County, was eastbound driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta when he rear-ended a 2018 Volvo truck tractor with trailer driven by Nicolae F. Fetea, 27, of Highland Park, Illinois, who had slowed down to turn onto the I-81 ramp. Hill told troopers he was checking his route map on his cellular telephone at the time.

No one was injured but the Jetta was demolished, troopers said. Hill was cited for following too closely.
