Resident asks W. Penn to address parking matter

Published July 17. 2018 12:31PM

A West Penn Township man has asked officials to address a dangerous parking issue.

Resident Larry Stival told the township’s board of supervisors Monday morning that there are trucks constantly parking by the E Z Market along Route 309.

Stival asked the board if it could place more signs there, or possibly increase the fine.

“There’s going to be a serious accident there,” Stival said.

Supervisors instructed township secretary Katie Orlick to contact the state Department of Transportation about possibly putting up bigger no parking signs.

Also on Monday, supervisors discussed the potential use of the township’s allocation of 2018 Community Development Block Grant funding.

Board Chairman Tony Prudenti said the township is set to receive $92,728 this year in block grant funds.

Prudenti said he would like to allocate half of that money to residents to fix their septic tanks under Act 537, with the other half going to the elderly who qualify under the income parameters to fix their homes.
