Eighty-two residents were being evacuated from the Sacred Heart Assisted Living facility in Northampton Saturday afternoon.

A pipe burst in the top floor of the large facility causing a collapse of the ceiling.

Residents were being evacuated by ambulance, bus and personal vehicles to nearby senior living facilities. The mass evacuation was conducted by numerous fire and police departments.

Residents are now at Sacred Heart Senior Living by Saucon Creek, at Whitehall Manor or staying with family members.

Whitehall Manor reached out to Sacred Heart’s Northampton facility and offered to assist.
